Data formats and file name conventions
At present the OSI SAF HL products are available in HDF5 and GRIB formats. The
HDF5 files have a compression within the format and are therefor considerable
smaller than the GRIB files. More details about these formats can be found in
the Product Manuals available for each product under Documentation.
At the OSI SAF High Latitude FTP-server all products are stored for one month.
In addition the NH Sea Ice products are continously archived since 1. March 2005.
All these products are available in HDF5 and GRIB formats.
Through the EUMETCast service the HL Sea Ice products are available, and only in
GRIB format.
File name conventions at FTP server
Underneath is listed the file name conventions for each of the products used at
the OSI SAF High Latitude FTP server.
These abbreviations are used:
